After a breakfast of Tim Hortons everything bagels with herb and garlic cream cheese at 8:30am, we practiced all day! From 9-4, minus a lunch break, we were upstairs preparing for the big day tomorrow. We’re so lucky to have such phenominal coaches and choreographers. I definitely feel prepared for finals.

After rehearsals, we had time to get ready for the gala! I used some of mine for a quick power nap, which was definitely worth the while. My roommate was kind enough to help me with my bun, and I wore a purple smokey eye with my white dear bride dress, done up by the lovely Courtney. I topped off my outfit with a jewelry set from dear bride and my silver sparkly heals!

The food was phenomenal; possibly the best meal of the week. Buffet style, I had beans, caesar salad, a sour dough bun, and TORTELLINI. Desert was just as good, with fruits, cakes, and four kinds of mouses!

It was so great watching so many talented and passionate young women performing tonight. There were so many amazing and unique talents which made me wish I had performed! I did however get to speak about my platform. Huge congrats to the top 3 talents who will be performing tomorrow.

The night ended with receiving our gift bag the had jewelry for our competition tomorrow, makeup, and hair and skin products! Thank you to all of the sponsors, whom I have addressed in a previous blog assignment! And of course, my lovely pink tote bag will be coming with me to all of my future horse shows.

Screen shot 2016-07-23 at 11.57.40 PMIt’s 2am and I need to be up before 8, and still need to pack. Until after finals and my vie for the crown;

This morning started with being sent down at 8:15 for a great buffet style breakfast! I had a chocolatine, banana, and a yogurt! I also got to enjoy one of my favourite drinks, chocolate milk! It was all so good.

Rehearsals started just after 9:00, and ran all the way untill 3:00pm! Everyone was tired and our feet were sore, but we finished both our opening number and our swimsuit dance, as well as got to practice our walks! Thank you to Hollywood and Shawn, two of the best coaches in the world, for helping us today.

Lunch for me was a vegi burger and a salad. The vegi burger was such a great treat as I usuallly eat them all of the time at home! I loaded up on snacks as well for the late night ahead. We went back to our rooms to eat, and got our stuff packed for pre lims!

I was super lucky to have a phenomenal makeup artist, as well as a hair stylist for tonight! I’m amazed at how well some women can get my hair to stay; usually when I curl it I have to make it almost crunchy with hairspray, and even then it barely lasts!

Prelims were a blast! Even if my name isn’t called for top 20 on sunday, I’ve learned so much since April and feel like I have grown so much as a person. Pageants have helped me get more involved with volunteerism, to gain self confidence, and to realize my strengths. I am sad that my journey in Toronto is soon coming to an end, but I also cannot wait to return to Saskatoon and use my new skills to make a change.

Huge shout out to dear bride dress services for once again, finding me the perfect gown for any occasion! The judges tonight could not stop talking about it, and I can’t wait to show off my other two gowns this weekend.

This morning began with breakfast at egglicious. They served the perfect pre-pageant food; eggs with a side of fruit. It was great to have a healthy, protein filled meal to start the day that would give us lots of energy without any bloating!

After our meal, we headed to fit body project for a work out! The three trainers were super high-energy and encouraging, no matter what your level. It was extremely gruelling, but very worth it. Promoting a healthy lifestyle is so great, and exercise is the best way to have a rocking body and feel confident.

#fitbodyproject

Lunch was sushi from fish by edo! It was so flavourful and yummy. I loved the spice, fresh vegetables, and tasty rice. A fantastic food to fill us up without being greasy!

After that, everyone had a blast with archery lessons at. We got the chance to play two different games, and even shoot at each other! I got hit in the face at one point, but was happy and surprised when through the gear and the foam I barely even noticed. I managed to escape with no bruises! It’s been so long since I’ve shot an arrow, and it was great getting back into it. My aunt is always inviting me to come out with her to shoot, and now I feel confident doing sol Thanks so much for having us!

It felt so good to get active again today. Thanks again to everyone that invited us to come get fit!

Our day ended with make-your-own fajitas at Lone Star. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was amazing. Very southern, very friendly, very inviting and fun!Screen shot 2016-07-21 at 6.26.06 PM

Our day started with a delicious breakfast at Egglicious! This morning we were treated with thick yummy pancakes. Right after, we headed out to the golf course.Screen shot 2016-07-20 at 11.14.42 PM

I had such a great time learning how to golf! We all received mini lessons for driving, putting, and clubbing. Driving was definitely my favourite, and I found out I’m really good at it! I loved hitting the ball as hard as I could and watching it fly. I found clubbing to be really hard, as you had to hit the ball perfectly to get it to “pop” into the air and even when I did it was hard to aim it over the hills.

Screen shot 2016-07-20 at 11.06.22 PM

Lunch at the golf course was AMAZING. They put out plates of ordeurves, pizza, and other fancy food. I had margarita pizza, bree cheese, garlic toast, and falafel sliders! It was all so good. And the drinks were super pretty and tasted even better. Screen shot 2016-07-20 at 11.15.28 PM Screen shot 2016-07-20 at 11.15.03 PM Screen shot 2016-07-20 at 11.14.52 PM#ryallgolf #kaneffgolf #kaneffacademies

After that, our day was filled with rehearsals for our opening number and walking, standing, and turning practice. The coach was really helpful and fun, and made the whole thing exciting!

I was pulled from rehearsal for my interview with three really kind judges. I absolutely love the interview portion of the pageants! It’s an opportunity for us to show who we really are, behind all of the makeup.

Our day ended with a trip to Dave & Buster’s for a great salad and pasta supper, followed by a trip to the midway for arcade games! It was definitely a highlight of the trip.

Today was jam packed with fun! We woke up at 5:30 and had to be ready for 6:15 at our door, so it was a really early morning.

We had breakfast at egglicious cafe, and I enjoyed a plate of vegetables, eggs, hashbrowns, and toast with jam.

Nuvango was kind enough to let us visit their headquarters on Tuesday July 19. We got to see their amazing new line of clothing that includes many styles, including maxi dresses and scuba jackets. We did a full photo shoot in their gorgeous, well lit room which was a ton of fun.

Screen shot 2016-07-19 at 9.19.20 PM Inlove with my photo shoot dress!

They also gave us a full tour and an explanation on how they create all of their products; from design to print to assembly, everything is done in the one building. Finally we got to see the view from their rooftop patio!

We visited the Bata Shoe Museum on Tuesday, July 19 at 11:30 a.m. After visiting a museum in Spain, I think I’ve found a new passion of mine. The talent it takes to make the art is inspiring. We got the opportunity to see a collection of old and famous shoes, including a size 22 double wide pair of shaquille o’neal boots! It was interesting to hold so many different shoes from so many eras. I can’t imagine walking around in some of them!

Screen shot 2016-07-19 at 9.18.07 PM RIP your feet in these!!

At the museum we also got the opportunity to visit their “Perils of 19th century fashion” exhibit. This draws attention to the lack of education that was involved with fashion, as well as the ridiculous measures that some people took, and will still take, to alter their appearance. For example, we learned that in the 19th century many clothes and even wall paper were dyed with arsenic, an extremely dangerous poison, as it created a brighter look. This is similar to how people today will use a tanning bed with dangerous UV rays to achieve that “sunkissed look”, even though it puts them at a high risk for skin cancer.

After the tours we got the opportunity to shop!

Thank you so much to Square One Mall for the gift cards and gifts! I made so many great and affordable purchases with the fantastic deals at the mall.

We ended our day with supper at Nirvana, and indian style restaurant. The food was fantastic, smelled amazing, and the atmosphere was even better. Our evening was filled with music, dancing, and laughter. #nervanaflavours
Our night ended with a song-filled ride back to the hotel, and an early night before golfing and interviews tomorrow!

Today was technically our sleep in day, and I was up at 7:45 am. I washed my face and was picked up just after 8:00am for breakfast from Tim Hortons. After, we had hair and makeup! My hair dresser was phenominal and made me look like I actually had thick and long hair! It was exactly what I described to her.

Screen shot 2016-07-18 at 9.09.21 PM With the fantastic Kaia Isenor post-makeup/pre-shoot!

After enjoying cheese ravioli for lunch, I had my video interview and photo shoot. I really enjoyed both and we had phenomenal and encouraging photographers. During the video interview my nerves immediately melted away when I started posing and talking. The videographer was extremely friendly and encouraging. He made sure I was laughing, confident, and enjoying myself. The photo shoot was very different for me as I did all of my Miss Teenage Central Saskatchewan shoots outside and this one was in a concrete room. The photographer reminded me of a riding coach who has helped me immensely with my flat work, as they are both very outspoken and funny! I was so lucky to be able to wear my Dear Bride cocktail dress for both of these.

Our day ended with rehearsal (which I missed most of for my photo shoot! Learning the dance after was NOT fun.) Our choreographer is very encouraging and helpful. Our day ended with a delicious pasta dish in the hotel and spray tans/lashes for some of the girls!

2016 Search for Miss Teenage Canada has officially begun!

As a Regional Delegate from Saskatoon, I arrived in Toronto at 10am, after a long flight filled with turbulence!

At 6:30 pm we entered ball room at the Airport Holiday Inn in Toronto to attend the Opening Ceremonies of the 2016 Search for Miss Teenage Canada.   I was excited and couldn’t wait to see what was in store for us.

The party incredible. The walls were lined with gifts for the delegates from our sponsors, and everyone was enthusiastic and kind. We finished the night with pizza, followed by an amazing tasting cake. I regret not going back for seconds!

I found my pair of Animal Print Temple Sunglasses (3833) (https://www.vpicanada.ca/SUNGLASSES/style-3833/) for sale online for $ 28  plus shipping and handling. Thanks VPI Canada! I can’t wait to rock them.

BRADLEE RYALL GOLF ACADEMY

Bradlee Ryall Golf AcademyAnother fun exhibit at the Opening Night Sponsors’ Party was from Bradlee Ryall Golf Academy which teaches golf lessons at six golf courses west of Toronto. We had a live mini golf attraction set up for us to practice our putting. It was great seeing all of the delegates trying their best to beat each other and get the ball into the cardboard box.

On Weds July 20th we all went  to the golf academy to play a one-hole golf game for two ladies golf jackets (which are prizes from SWING active wear) after a lesson! I really do wish I had more time for recreational activities, such as golfing. My father very much enjoys it, and the few times I have gone it was a blast! Even if I’m the worst player on the course.

I had such a great time learning how to golf! We all received mini lessons for driving, putting, and clubbing. Driving was definitely my favourite, and I found out I’m really good at it! ARCHER’S ARENA

Archers Arena logo At the party there was a bow and arrow, and we all took turns taking fun pictures with it! We’ll ALL be playing Archery Tag in Toronto at Archers Arena on Thursday July 21st 2016.  I love archery and am so excited. Both my brother and I have bow and arrows and regularly shoot targets. My aunt even goes hunting with hers! Archery was a huge passion of mine as a child, and still is. I can’t wait to go and feel like Katniss Everdeen! On that night, look for the hashtag #archerytag.

Fishd By EDO

I cannot wait to go and enjoy some more delicious food this week! Sushi is some of my absolute favourite, and I can’t wait to try some new flavours. We have an all you can eat sushi in my hometown, but I bet it’s nothing compared to the Toronto variety.

YOGEN FRUZ

Yogen Fruz logoYogen Fruz is giving a $15 coupon to all of the competitors this weekend.. I can’t wait to taste some of the amazing yogurt; one of my favourite foods. The only thing I hate about frozen yogurt is that I can never decide which flavour to get, or which toppings! While I like the traditional vanilla and strawberry flavours, I also love trying new exciting kinds like pistachio, mangolicious, or toasted marshmallow! I always want all of the toppings, but some definitely go better with others or with certain flavours! I’m excited to try their frosted animal cookies (childhood throwback!) and their popping boba.

After waking up at 2:30am, I arrived at the airport this morning to meet Kateryna, only to find out that we would be sitting together on the plane! After a tearful goodbye from my mom, I checked through security. We grabbed our Tim Hortons coffee and sandwhiches (which I got lucky enough to get two of when they made a second by mistake!) and boarded for take off at 5:30am Central Time. Two and a half hours and a turbulence filled flight later, we landed in Toronto to meet the rest of the Saskatchewan girls, and Miss Teenage Ottawa. We grabbed Subway on our way out and headed to the hotel.

Meeting everyone in the ball room whilst waiting for our rooms to be ready was great! It was a relaxed environment where we shared stories and laughs. When we did finally get to our rooms, we got ready for the welcome party.

The welcome party was fantastic! We got the opportunity to meet most of the sponsors (more info to come in a later post), play games, and eat food. We got out opening number shoes (which are insanely comfortable), new clothes, and got to try AMAZING chocolates!

It’s been a fantastic first day in Toronto, and I can’t wait for the morning.

With less than 24 hours until I arrive in Toronto (!!!) I thought I’d let everyone get to know me better…

Firstly, and as most people can already tell I have a huge passion for equestrian. Eight months ago I purchased my new partner, Ruger. Saskatchewan born and raised, he’s truly been the horse of a lifetime. We recently moved up to the 1.15m’s, and hope to be riding in the 1.20m’s at out next show! In august, we have the opportunity to compete at the Canadian Equestrian Team Regional Medal Finals at Rocky Mountain, as well as compete in the jumpers at Spruce Meadows. I have been so blessed to have these opportunities and to have such a fantastic partner beside me, along with a supportive coach and team.

Along with being a strong athlete, I am also very passionate about my academics. I graduated with distinction this past year, as well as with a french immersion bilingual diploma. I completed two AP exams, the French Language and Culture, as well as Calculus AB. I passed both, and received the highest possible score on the calculus exam. I have been so lucky to have amazingly supportive teachers, that have also understood that I am a busy-body!
